Since 2004, the European Commission has been supporting a programme to promote active European citizenship, which will be reviewed and reinforced in 2007. This programme is dedicated entirely to encouraging citizens and their organisations to actively take part in the
European project. Most other initiatives of the Directorate-General for Education and Culture now also include this dimension of active European citizenship. But what is active citizenship?
