Summary: Communication published by the European Commission on 8 March 2018, which sets out a strategy for a financial system that is able to support the European Union's climate and sustainable development agenda. Further information: The Communication sets out a roadmap to boost the role of finance in achieving a well-performing economy that delivers on environmental and social goals as well. The Action Plan on Sustainable Finance is part of the Capital Markets Union's (CMU) efforts to connect finance with the specific needs of the European economy to the benefit of the planet and our society. It is also one of the key steps towards implementing the Paris Agreement and the EU's agenda for sustainable development. The Action Plan followed up on the recommendations set out by the final report of the High-Level Group (HLEG) on sustainble finance. It was also discussed at a high-level conference on sustainable finance held on 22 March 2018. |
