The EU Council of Fisheries Ministers meeting in Brussels from 16-20 December 2002, agreed on a Regulation which would establish specific measures to compensate the Spanish fisheries sectors affected by the oil spill from the stricken tanker, 'The Prestige', which sank off the coast of Galicia in November 2002.
