Academics face a summer of unease

Article says that heads of Italian universities have urged the country's new government not to block reforms to higher education. The reforms, that are due to come into effect in the autumn of 2001, have been approved by the previous parliament and are modelled on the basis of the Bologna declaration of June 1999 wherein the EU education ministers agreed to adopt by 2010 mutually compatible systems of higher education.
