On 24 February 2016 in Rome, Gazprom signed a memorandum with Italy’s Edison (controlled by the French company EDF) and Greece’s DEPA on Russian gas supplies via the Black Sea and (unspecified) third-party countries to Italy and Greece. The results of work carried out as part of the ITGI Poseidon project were used to organise supplies. This project, initiated in 2005, envisaged exports of around 12 billion m3 of natural gas from Azerbaijan via Turkey and Greece to Italy. The parties did not disclose information such as the volume of supplies, the gas pipeline’s planned capacity or the financial assumptions of their co-operation. |
