Summary:Communication adopted by the European Commission on 5 July 2022, setting out a roadmap to position the European Union (EU) within the global scene of technological innovation and start-ups. Further information:Innovation is deemed essential to drive the EU's competitiveness and to ensure the well-being of its citizens. Innovation shapes markets, transforms economies, stimulates changes in the quality of pubic services and is seen as essential to achieve the objectives of the green and digital transitions. The latest wave of features deep tech innovation, which is rooted in cutting edge science, technology and engineering, often combining advances in the physical, biological and digital spheres. This Communication sets out measures aimed at leveraging the strengths of the EU's single market, industrial and talent base, institutions, and democratic societies to drive deep tech innovation in the EU. It was adopted by the European Commission on 5 July 2022, and it followed up on other initiatives seeking to improve the EU's innovation performance. The Council of the European Union adopted a set of conclusions concerning this Agenda on 2 December 2022. |
