8th EU-Montenegro Stabilisation and Association Council, 20 June 2017

The meeting followed the publication of the European Commission's report on Montenegro in November 2016 and a series of sectorial meetings held since the last SA Council meeting.

The Stabilisation and Association Council was followed by an Accession Conference with Montenegro, which opened negotiations on chapter 1 and chapter 22. The Accession Conference provisionally closed negotiations on chapter 30.

The eighth meeting of the EU-Montenegro Stabilisation and Association Council was held on 20 June 2017. It reviewed the state of relations between the two sides, including Montenegro's progress in its preparations for EU membership.

The participants discussed the accession strategy and bilateral relations under the Stabilisation and Association Agreement. They had also an exchange of views regarding developments in the region.
