2021 European Semester Spring Package

Spring Package of the 2021 cycle of the European Semester, published by the European Commission on 2 June 2021.

Further information:

This package focuses on the provision of fiscal guidance to the Member States of the European Union (EU) as they proceed with reopening their economies following the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. This guidance aims to support their economic recoveries, making the best possible use of the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), the programme at the heart of NextGenerationEU.

In this framework, the European Commission published a set of documents:

• Communication on economic policy coordination in 2021, together with individual in-depth reviews;
• Policy recommendations for 2022 and medium-term following assessment of Member States' stability and convergence programmes;
• Report under Article 126(3) TFEU for almost all Member States;
• Recommendation under Article 126(7) TFEU for Romania;
• Proposal for Council Decision on guidelines for the employment policies of the Member States;
• Tenth enhanced surveillance report for Greece;
• Post-programme surveillance reports for Cyprus, Ireland, Spain and Portugal.
