European Economy Institutional Papers are important reports and communications from the European Commission to the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament on the economy and economic developments. In its 2013 and 2014 enlargement strategies, the Commission outlined a new approach to economic governance, aiming for the economic policy dialogue with enlargement partners to provide clearer guidance on the reforms needed to foster macroeconomic stability, ensure fiscal sustainability, and support long-term growth and competitiveness. In this spirit, the 2015 Economic and Financial Dialogue between the EU and the Western Balkans and Turkey included, for the first time, all enlargement countries, and provided targeted policy guidance for each of them. This is the Commission’s Overview and Country Assessments of the Economic Reform Programmes (ERP) for the seven Candidates and Potential Candidates to EU admission as of 2016. These were submitted by enlargement countries, containing their macroeconomic and fiscal policy framework as well as structural reform plans to boost competitiveness and long-term growth. |
