The European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) released its 2009 Annual report on 5 November 2009. The report provides the latest European data and commentary on the drug situation across the 27 EU Member States, Croatia, Turkey and Norway. Individual chapters dedicated to specific drugs are complemented by updates on drug-related infectious diseases and deaths, new drugs and emerging trends and the legal, political, social and health responses to Europe’s drugs problem.

The Annual Report is accompanied by two News Releases, (nos. 8 and 9 of November 2009) and a message from Wolfgang Götz, Director of the EMCDDA. Also accompanying the Report are two 'Selected Issues' on polydrug use and on drug offences; a 'Thematic Paper' on the Spice phenomenon; and an issue of the 'Drugnet Europe' newsletter (no.68). The 'Statistical Bulletin 2009', a companion publication to the EMCDDA Annual Report, and 'Country Overviews 2009' are also available.
