The seventeenth Cooperation Council between Armenia and the European Union was held on 23 May 2017. The Council welcomed the end of the negotiations on a comprehensive and enhances partnership agreement (already initialled) and called for its swift conclusion. It also welcomed the launch of negotiations on an air transport agreement between Armenia and the EU and encouraged further cooperation in all possible sectors. Both sides reviewed reforms undertaken in Armenia. The EU recalled the shortcomings observed during the latest parliamentary election and urged the country's authorities to investigate any alleged human rights violations and hold fair trials for all. The Council also addressed regional issues of common interest. The EU expressed appreciation for Armenia's participation in the Eastern Partnership framework. |
