Summary:Recommendation (EU) 2024/915 - adopted by the European Commission on 19 March 2024 - setting out measures aimed at tackling counterfeiting, both offline and online, and enhancing the enforcement of intellectual property rights (IPR). Further information:This Recommendation - also known as the EU Toolbox against Counterfeiting - encourages the Member States of the European Union (EU), including competent national authorities, rightsholders, and other economic operators, to take effective, appropriate, and proportionate measures to combat IP-infringing activities both in the online and offline environments. It also recalls the obligations set out under other Acts of EU law, but it does not recommend any action within the scope of binding provisions of EU law, nor does it seek to interpret those binding provisions. The adoption of this Recommendation followed up on the 2020 Intellectual Property Action Plan, where the Commission undertook to enhance IP enforcement. It builds on the results of a consultation exercise partly facilitated by the EUIPO, which included several stakeholder workshops, a Call for Evidence, a high-level roundtable and expert group meetings as well as the International IP Enforcement Summit. This Recommendation was adopted by the European Commission on 19 March 2024 and published in the Official Journal on 26 March 2024. |
