Summary:Decision (CFSP) 2023/1015 - adopted by the Council of the European Union on 23 May 2023 - concerning the participation of Denmark in the Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO). It amends Decision (CFSP) 2017/2315 establishing permanent structured cooperation (PESCO) and determining the list of participating Member States. Further information:Council Decision (CFSP) 2017/2315 set up the Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO). It provides a framework for defence cooperation among the participating member states of the European Union (EU) who have entered into more binding commitments between one another. They jointly develop defence capabilities, coordinate investments, enhance the operational readiness, interoperability and resilience of their armed forces, and collaborate in projects. In June 2022, Danish voters supported their country's joining the EU's Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP). In March 2023, Denmark notified the Council of the European Union and the High Representative on Foreign and Security Policy of its intention to participate in PESCO and its ability to meet the requirements. This Decision was formally adopted by the Council on 23 May 2023, and published in the Official Journal on the following day. |
