Summary:Report published by the European Commission on 30 January 2023, concerning the implementation of the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESI Funds) over the period 2014-2020. Further information:The ESI Funds consist of five instruments jointly managed by the European Commission and the Member States: the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the European Social Fund (ESF), the Cohesion Fund, the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF). The Funds finance investments that are able to contribute to the growth objectives of the European Union (EU), and they seek to support the territory, economic and social cohesion of the regions. The ESI Funds are the largest investment instruments under the 2014-2020 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF). This report, as required by Article 53 of Regulation (EU) No 1303/2013, presents the changes in the financial implementation of the ESI Funds to the end of 2021. It presents the cumulative achievements of the 2014-2020 programming period reported by the Member States, as well as the initial insights into the response actions of the ESI Funds programmes to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. |
