Summary: Regulation (EU) 2022/1207 - adopted by the Council of the European Union on 12 July 2022 - introducing amendments to Regulation (EC) No 974/98 as regards the introduction of the Euro currency in Croatia. Further information: Regulation (EC) No 974/98 defines the legal monetary requirements that countries of the European Union (EU) having adopted the Euro must apply. It sets out the different stages leading to the introduction of the Euro. For Croatia to also be covered by this Regulation, a reference to this Member State needs to be added to that Regulation. This Council Regulation contains the necessary amendments to that Regulation. Croatia's National Euro Changeover Plan specifies that the ‘big bang’ scenario should be applicable, i.e. that the adoption of the euro as the currency of Croatia and the introduction of euro banknotes and coins in Croatia should coincide. The draft law was tabled by the European Commission on 1 June 2022. It was adopted by the Council of the European Union on 12 July 2022. The Act was published in the Official Journal on 14 July 2022. |
