Summary:Decision (EU) 2022/1163 - adopted by the co-legislators on 23 June 2022 - mobilising the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) in response to application EGF/2021/008 EL/Attica electrical equipment manufacturing. Further information:The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) aims to provide support for workers made redundant and self-employed persons whose activity has ceased as a result of major structural changes in world trade patterns due to globalisation, as a result of a continuation of the global financial and economic crisis, or as a result of a new global financial and economic crisis, and to assist them with their reintegration into the labour market. Greece submitted an application for a financial contribution from the EGF in December 2021, aimed at addressing displacements in the electrical equipment manufacturing sector in the Attica region. Following an assessment of this application, the European Commission concluded that the conditions for awarding a financial contribution from the EGF had been met. On 30 May 2022, the Commission adopted a draft Decision to allocate a financial contribution of around €1.5 million in respect of the application submitted by the Greek authorities. The proposal was endorsed by the plenary of the European Parliament and by the Council of the European Union on 23 June. The Decision was formally signed on that same day and published in the Official Journal on 6 July 2022. |
