Summary:Communication published by the European Commission on 17 May 2021, setting out new guidelines for the European Union's aquaculture sector during the period from 2021 to 2030. Further information:The guidelines offer a common vision to develop this sector in a way that contributes to theĀ European Green Deal and in particular theĀ Farm to Fork Strategy. This Communication reviews the 2013 strategic guidelines for the sustainable development of EU aquaculture. These guidelines were the main pillar of strategic coordination of sectoral policy in the European Union (EU) ever since. The fresh guidelines identify 13 areas where further work is required to promote the sustainability, competitiveness and resilience. They also also provide specific recommendations and proposes concrete actions by all relevant stakeholders. The Council of the European Union adopted on 18 July 2022 a set of conclusions focusing on these new aquaculture strategic guidelines. |
