Summary: Communication published by the European Commission on 4 March 2021, setting out an Action Plan aimed at implementing the principles of the European Pillar of Social Rights (EPSR). Further information: The European Pillar of Social Rights (EPSR) was proclaimed by the institutions of the European Union (EU) in 2017. The EPSR sets out 20 key principles and rights essential for fair and well-functioning labour markets and welfare systems. The Pillar is structured around three chapters: equal opportunities and access to the labour market; fair working conditions; social protection and inclusion. This Action Plan aims at implementing the principles set out by the EPSR. It also proposes employment, skills and social protection headline targets for the EU to be achieved by 2030. These include:
This Communication constitutes the contribution from the European Commission to the Porto Social Summit, organised by the Portuguese Council Presidency in May 2021. It is also the result of a public consultation launched alongside the publication of the roadmap aimed at delivering this Action Plan. |
