Summary: Decision (CFSP) 2020/1537 - adopted by the Council of the European Union on 22 October 2020 - introducing amendments to Decision (CFSP) 2019/797 concerning sanctions against cyber attacks threatening the European Union (EU) or its Member States. Further information: Decision (CFSP) 2019/797 establishes a framework for targeted restrictive measures to deter and respond to cyber-attacks with a significant effect which constitute an external threat to the EU or its Member States. The present Decision adds to the list two natural persons and one body in the list of those responsible for or involved in various cyber-attacks. This relates to a cyber-attack against the German federal parliament (Bundestag) which took place in April and May 2015. The sanctions imposed include a travel ban and an asset freeze. In addition, EU persons and entities are forbidden from making funds available to those listed. |
