The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) is an independent body of the European Union (EU) responsible for investigating, prosecuting and bringing to judgment crimes against the financial interests of the EU. It was established by Regulation (EU) 2017/1939. The European Chief Prosecutor was appointed by Decision (EU) 2019/1798 following a selection procedure. By this date, there were 22 Member States participating in the EPPO through the enhanced cooperation mechanism. |
