Summary: Regulation (EU) 2020/875 - adopted by the Council of the European Union on 15 June 2020 - updating Regulation (EU) No 1388/2013 concerning quotas for certain agricultural and industrial products. Further information: Regulation (EU) No 1388/2013 sets a list of agricultural and industrial products for which autonomous tariff quotas are needed when production is insufficient to meet the needs of the industry. The Act was adopted so that demand across the European Union (EU) for the products in question could be met under the most favourable conditions. The Regulation is updated every six months to accommodate the needs of the EU industry. Following a review of all requests from Member States, the European Commission considered justified the opening of autonomous tariffs for some new products. The proposal to update the list of products was tabled by the European Commission on 24 April 2020 and signed off by the Council of the European Union on 15 June. It was published in the Official Journal on 26 June. |
