Summary: Decision (EU) 2020/769 adopted by the Council of the European Union on 10 June 2020, which sets out the position of the European Union in the Joint Committee established by the Agreement on the Withdrawal of the United Kingdom (UK) from the European Union (EU) on a set of proposed amendments. Further information: The Withdrawal Agreement sets out the arrangements for the orderly withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union (EU) and European Atomic Energy Community (Euratom). The Withdrawal Agreement entered into force on 1 February 2020. The Joint Committee set up by this Agreement can adopt a Decision amending it, pursuant to Article 164(5)(d), to correct errors, to address omissions or other deficiencies, or to address situations unforeseen when the Withdrawal Agreement was signed, provided that the modifications do not amend the essential elements of the Agreement. The purpose of this Decision is to amend a number of such omissions and deficiencies, namely:
The proposed Decision was adopted by the European Commission on 15 May 2020 and endorsed by the Council of the European Union on 10 June. It was published in the Official Journal on 12 June 2020. |
