Summary: The European Commission published on 13 February 2020 its Winter (interim) economic forecast for the European Union (EU) and the Eurozone. Further information: The Winter 2020 Economic Forecast projects a path of steady, moderate growth for the European economy. It highlights that the Euro area has enjoyed its longest period of sustained growth since the introduction of the common currency. The forecast projects that euro area gross domestic product (GDP) growth remains stable at 1.2% in 2020 and 2021. For the European Union (EU) as a whole, growth is forecast to ease marginally to 1.4% in 2020 and 2021, down from 1.5% in 2019. |
