Summary: Proposal presented on 14 October 2019 by the European Commission establishing the position to be taken on behalf of the Union regarding the envisaged adoption of a Joint Committee Decision to amend the Convention. Further information: The Regional Convention on pan-Euro-Mediterranean preferential rules of origin lays down provisions on the origin of goods traded under relevant Agreements concluded between the Contracting Parties. It lays down a multilateral framework of rules of origin for a network of Free Trade Agreements, and applies without prejudice to the principles laid down in those agreements. The PEM Joint Committee adopts amendments to the Convention, administers it and insures its proper implementation. In November 2019, during its 9th meeting, the Joint Committee is to adopt a decision regarding the amendment of the Convention. The purpose of the envisaged act is to amend the rules of origin in order to better correspond to the economic reality. |
