The European Community and the fishing industry – Practical guide to structural aid

Summary:

Ever since the common fisheries policy was set up, the European Community has paid particular attention to the structural problems experienced by the various branches in the industry: fleet, marine and fresh-water aquaculture, processing and marketing of products, and port facilities. The Community is currently renewing its commitment to the fishing sector with the creation of the financial instrument for fisheries guidance (FIFG), the introduction of socioeconomic measures and the adoption of the PESCA Community initiative.
