Summary: A socio-economic study has been commissioned by the coordinator of Priority Area (PA) 8, located within the Ministry of Finance and Economics Baden-Wuerttemberg. It is financed by the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy of the European Commission and co-financed by the Ministry. One aim of the study is to analyse the current situation in the Danube Region with respect to prosperity, entrepreneurship/SMEs and cooperation activities to identify the obstacles which hinder the improvement of the situation. The second progress report on the socio-economic assessment of the Danube Region updates the results from the first progress report and presents new prosperity and competitiveness diagnostics. The first chapter of this report gives information on the concept of the socio-economic study and the employed methodologies and provides an overview of the technical implementation of the analyses that in particular refers to the expected presentation of results in the final report on the territorial analysis. The second chapter presents results of the competitiveness assessment according to the employed concept and the third and final chapter reports about the progress on cooperation and networks to increase competitiveness in the Danube Region. |
