Summary: Communication published by the European Commission in April 2019, which sets out its new Anti-Fraud Strategy. Further information: The European Commission adopted its existing Commission Anti-Fraud Strategy (CAFS) in June 2011. It set out guidelines for the Commission's fight against fraud and a number of priority actions. The general guidelines remained valid and the measures provided for in the 2011 CAFS were fully implemented. An assessment was carried out for the 2011 CAFS, which concluded that while the Strategy remained relevant and effective as a policy framework, it needed to adapt to an evolving situation. This Communication updates this Strategy accordingly. It seeks to further improve the detection, sanctioning and prevention of fraud. The CAFS is an internal policy document binding on the Commission services and executive agencies in their fight against fraud and corruption affecting the EU’s financial interests. |
