Summary: Report presented on 22 February 2019 by the European Commission evaluating the performance of the Lifts Directive. Further information: Directive 2014/33/EU, which establishes the legal framework for placing on the market lifts and safety components for lifts, and for putting into service lifts, was adopted in February 2014. The two main objectives of the Directive are:
Article 46 of the Directive requires the Commission to submit a report regarding its implementation and functioning, based on a consultation of relevant stakeholders and accompanied, where applicable, by a proposal for revision of the Directive. This report draws on an external study on the evaluation of the Directive which includes various stakeholder consultations and other data sources. The details of the evaluation are set out in the Staff Working Document (SWD) accompanying this report. |
