EU-Japan summit, 17 July 2018

Summary:

The 25th bilateral summit between Japan and the European Union was held on 17 July 2018 in Tokyo. The agenda included the following items:

• Signature of the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) and of the Strategic Partnership Agreement by the two sides;
• Discussion on the a range of regional and international issues relating to foreign and security matters.

Further information:

The meeting also marked the conclusion of the talks concerning an adequacy level which recognises a comparable level of data protection to the standards applied by the European Union.
