Summary: Council Decision of 21 January 2019 establishing the position to be taken on behalf of the Union concerning a decision of the EEA Joint Committee to amend Annex IX (Financial Services) to the EEA Agreement. Further information: The Agreement on the European Economic Area (the EEA Agreement) entered into force on 1 January 1994. The EEA Joint Committee was established to ensure the effective implementation and operation of the EEA Agreement. The draft decision of the EEA Joint Committee aims to amend Annex IX (Financial Services) in order to incorporate Regulation (EU) No 909/2014 (the Central Securities Depositories Regulation) into the EEA Agreement. The decision extends the already existing EU policy to the EEA EFTA States (Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein). |
