Summary: G20 leaders met in Buenos Aires on 30 November and 1 December 2018, adopting a declaration focusing on the future of work, infrastructure for development, a sustainable food future and a gender mainstreaming strategy across the G20 agenda. On 1st December 2018 the leaders adopted a joint communiqué reaffirming their commitment to 'a rules-based international order'. Further information: The summit was also an opportunity to build a positive trade agenda and to reconfirm political support among G20 leaders to reform the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in order to improve its efficiency and functioning. The tension between US and China on trade, Russia's seizure of Ukrainian vessels, and the controversy over the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, have clouded the meeting. |
