Decision (EU) 2018/817 on the position to be adopted within the EEA Joint Committee concerning the amendment of Annex IX to the EEA Agreement

Council Decision of 22 May 2018 establishing the position to be taken on behalf of the Union concerning a decision of the EEA Joint Committee to amend Annex IX (Financial Services) to the EEA Agreement.

The Agreement on the European Economic Area (the EEA Agreement) entered into force on 1 January 1994. The EEA Joint Committee was established to ensure the effective implementation and operation of the EEA Agreement.

The draft decision of the EEA Joint Committee aims to amend Annex IX (Financial Services) to the EEA Agreement in order to incorporate European Market Infrastructure Delegated and Implementing Regulations (EMIR Level 2 Acts). The decision extends the already existing EU policy to the EEA EFTA States (Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein).
