Economists for Free Trade The full report, From Project Fear to Project Prosperity, was to be published in the autumn of 2017. Over a few months, EFT would release some of the separate chapters of the report covering topics such as EU governance and regulation, trade models, trade negotiations, the City, Migration, post-Brexit spending and forecasts for the UK economy. The ABEA, flatly rejected Whitehall’s pessimism as expressed in a leaked report EU Exit Analysis – Cross Whitehall Briefing to the news website Buzzfeed earlier in January 2018. The ABEA predicted that leaving the EU would boost the the UK's economy by 2-4%, in contrast with the Whitehall (civil service) forecasts of up to an 8% hit to gross domestic product. The report was produced by four leading independent economists, all with a track record in economic forecasting: Roger Bootle (Economists for Free Trade), Gerard Lyons (City economist), Professor Patrick Minford (Cardiff University and Chair of Economists for Free Trade), and Julian Jessop (Chief Economist at the Institute of Economic Affairs). |
