Adoption of conclusions on Moldova and its relations with the European Union

The conclusions were adopted at a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council.

Foreign ministers had an exchange of views on Moldova, including the implementation of the Association Agreement (AA), EU engagement with Moldova and future perspectives ahead of forthcoming parliamentary elections. They also discussed the role of Moldova within the Eastern Partnership and engagement in the field of security.

The Council reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening political association and economic integration between the EU and Moldova by working in close partnership, on the basis of the Association Agreement that entered into force in July 2016. While acknowledging the steps already taken by Moldova, the Council highlighted the need for reforms which started in 2016 to continue and be implemented.

The Council of the European Union adopted on 26 February 2018 a set of conclusions on the political situation in Moldova and its relations with the EU, following an exchange of views.
