Further information:

Based on the TENtec Information System, the state of implementation of TEN-T transport infrastructure in terms of compliance with the TEN-T Regulation requirements reaches between 75% and 100% for half of the currently available indicators, whereas for the other half it is still below 75%.

This report also analyses the efforts of financial investments made on the TEN-T. In the course of 2014 and 2015 the total investment made by the EU institutions from their financial sources (i.e. TEN-T/CEF, ERDF/CF and EIB loans) in TEN-T core and comprehensive network infrastructure amounted to €30.67 billion in all 28 Member States.

Background information:

At the end of 2013, upon a proposal of the European Commission, the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament agreed upon a new framework for the development of the backbone of EU transport infrastructure, by laying down guidelines for the development of the trans-European transport network (Regulation (EU) No 1315/2013, hereafter TEN-T Regulation).

Furthermore, access to EU support from Cohesion Fund (CF) and European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) for investments on the TEN-T was linked to the existence of comprehensive transport plans at regional and/or national level.
