Summary: The European Commission adopted on 20 December 2017 a set of Recommendations to the Council of the European Union on the opening of negotiations for agreements regarding Europol's cooperation with specific third countries - Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia and Turkey. The Council of the European Union adopted the Recommendations on 4 June 2018. The European Parliament's plenary session gave its input to these negotiations on 5 July. Further information: Since the entry into application of Regulation 2016/794, the Commission is responsible, on behalf of the Union, for negotiating international agreements with third countries for the exchange of personal data with Europol. The Commission made its assessment of priority countries taking into account Europol's operational needs and these identified in the 11th progress report on the Security Union.
