Further information: The European Commission reported continuous improvement of the economic outlook for the European Union and the Eurozone. The real GDP growth forecast for the Euro area was at 2.2%, the fastest pace in a decade. The EU was expected to grow 2.3%. The report shows that the European economic performed significantly better than expected earlier in the year, propelled by resilient private consumption, stronger growth around the world, and falling unemployment. Investment also picked up amid favourable financing conditions and considerably brightened economic sentiment as uncertainty faded. The economies of all Member States showed signs of expansion and their labour markets improved, but wages were rising only slowly. The European Commission published on 9 November 2017 its latest Economic Forecast for the European Union, Eurozone and each member state. |
