Open Europe published a report called Beyond the Westminster Bubble: What people really think about immigration in December 2017.

The authors of the report found that public attitudes on immigration were far more nuanced and sophisticated than often was portrayed in political or media debate. The results showed that the public want to see immigration controlled, but that most people recognise both positive as well as negative aspects of immigration. Brexit provided an important opportunity to design an immigration system that could command broad public support.
