Claire Perry MP, Minister of State for Energy and Clean Growth, told the House of Lords EU Energy and Environment Sub-Committee on the 21 March 2018 that the UK Government intended to stay in the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) until the end of 2020.Following an amendment voted by the European Parliament in September 2017, the European Commission has drafted a regulation in October 2017 in preparation for the possibility that the United Kingdom leaves the EU without any agreement concerning its continued participation in the EU emissions trading system (ETS).
