Summary:

Report published by the European Commission in September 2017 on the implementation of its trade policy strategy, named 'Trade for All - Delivering a progressive trade policy to harness globalisation'.

Further information:

The 'Trade for All' strategy was launched in 2015 and set out the European Commission's vision for the EU external trade policy. This strategy was based on openness combined with a level playing field, high standards of labour, environmental, consumer and social protection. It also shows commitment to a rules-bsed multilateral trading system.

Rather than covering the entire universe of EU trade policy actions, the focus of this Report is the work on the Trade for All commitments since October 2015. It complements other reporting and the documents published in relation to existing trade negotiations. This Report - published on 13 September 2017 - includes achievements; areas where there is more work to do; lessons learned; and implications for the Commission’s priorities in the next phase of implementation. The Report highlights that the first two years implementing the  Trade for All strategy saw considerable concrete progress towards an effective, transparent and responsible trade policy that responds to economic challenges and seizes opportunities.

The Report was published alongside the adoption of a package of legislative measures relating to trade and investment.
