Conclusions on Bosnia and Herzegovina

Background and further information:

The Council reiterated its unequivocal commitment to Bosnia's EU perspective as a single, united and sovereign country and regretted the rhetoric used by some political stakeholders, as well as the early electoral agenda which slowed down the pace of reform and affected the political climate.

The Council also welcomed the continued presence of Operation Althea, with its mission to support the country's authorities to maintain a safe and secure environment.

These conclusions were adopted during a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council.

The Council of the European Union adopted on 16 October 2017 a set of conclusions on the latest political developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the presence of the EU's Althea Operation.
