Conclusions on the promotion and protection of human rights in the world

Background and further information:

The discussion and adoption of conclusions were done at a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council.

The Council of the European Union held a discussion on 16 October 2017 on the EU policy on human rights and on how to best promote them in bilateral and multilateral contexts.

A set of conclusions were adopted as regards the mid-term review of the action plan on human rights and democracy. The Council also adopted its annual report on human rights and democracy in the world (2016).
