Background and further information: The report shows that one year after the referendum on the United Kingdom's EU membership, an increasing majority of people in the European Union are optimistic about the future of the project. Trust in the European Union showed signs of growth – it is at its highest level since 2010, and support for the euro is greater than it has been since 2004. Close to a majority of Europeans also showed optimism about the state of their national economy. The standard Eurobarometer was established in 1973. Each survey consists of approximately 1000 face-to-face interviews per Member State (except in some Member States). Reports are published twice yearly. The European Commission published on 2 August 2017 a Standard Eurobarometer, which monitors the evolution of public opinion in the Member States. |
