Italy earthquake: Statement by Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides

Two people were killed and three buried children were rescued from the rubble after an earthquake hit the Italian holiday island of Ischia on the 21 August 2017. Although the magnitude of the quake was estimated at only 4, many buildings collapsed.

Exactly one year after another devastating eartquake at Amatrice Italy's press reacted with bitterness to the August 2017 disaster.On 22 August 2017 the European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides made a statement on an earthquake which hit the Italian island of Ischia.
