Background and further information: This Summit was seen as one of the largest and highest-level to be held by the Estonian Presidency of the Council. Its agenda included a range of issues connected to developments in the area of digitisation and the internet. While specific proposals on digital taxation were not officially on the agenda of the Summit, they ended up among the topics mentioned by EU leaders gathering in Tallinn. Divisions were visible between the Member States proposing tax measures for digital companies and the remaining countries. The Estonian Presidency of the Council of the European Union held on 29 September 2017 the Tallinn Digital Summit, a platform aiming to launch high-level discussions on plans for digital innovation in the European Union. |
