Further information: The Council discussed bilateral relations under the EU-Uzbekistan partnership and cooperation agreement. It took stock of progress achieved since the previous Council meeting. Both sides also discussed political developments in the country, including domestic reforms, justice and home affairs, human rights, and the rule of law. The economic situation and EU cooperation with Uzbekistan were also examined during the meeting, including aspects related to energy and tourism. Reperesentatives discussed how to improve the business climate in order to attract more foreign trade and investment. Finally, the Cooperation Council reviewed the implementation of the EU-Central Asia strategy. The thirteenth meeting of the Cooperation Council between Uzbekistan and the European Union (EU) was held on 17 July 2017. |
