Further information: The additional funding aims to meet the most urgent needs of those internally displaced persons (the majority of whom are women and children), hit by a deteriorating situation in the conflict-ridden region. This funding brings EU humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable in the DRC to almost €28 million since the beginning of 2017, following a first batch of aid unveiled in April. The European Commission announced on 5 July 2017 the allocation of €5 million in additional humanitarian aid to help people of the provinces of Kasaï, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). |
