The European Parliament's plenary session held a hearing on 14 June 2017 with the Maltese Prime Minister, Joseph Muscat. Members of the Parliament criticised Mr Muscat for seeking to gloss over the involvement of some people in the Panama Papers scandal by calling a snap election and for Malta's lack of cooperation with the EP’s Money Laundering, Tax Avoidance and Tax Evasion Committee (PANA). The Prime Minister refuted the accusations and called for the judicial investigation to be concluded before jumping into any conclusions. |
