Blog: Is Poland’s Civic Platform a serious threat to the ruling party?

Aleks Szczerbiak wrote in May 2017 that Civic Platform, the main opposition grouping in Poland, appeared to have seen off its challengers and be drawing level with the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party in the polls. Although underestimating the opposition would be a serious mistake for the governing party, for many Poles Civic Platform remained associated with the previous, discredited administration and did not yet offer a credible alternative.
