Features published before that date are still available via an archive website (see related url hyperlinks).After the yes to the constitutional reform in the referendum held on the 16 April 2017 in Turkey the EU faced the question of how to redefine its relations with the country, which was officially still a candidate for EU accession.

Commentators in European newspapers discussed the issue. Tensions in Turkey were running high and Europe must treat it with kid gloves, some commentators warned. Others believe the country should even lose its Nato membership.
